However from all the documentation I am finding the issue isn't resovable. When I go into a fresh project, and go to the project properties (as the tutorial describes) I only have 2 tabs. "AddOn Info" and "Files" there is no third "General" tab and I can't seem to find any way to set the path, in turn leaving me unable to build the project.

As a note, I did infact have world of warcraft installed on the host machine at the time of the AddOn studio install. however the game is in my "Public" folder and AddOn Studio is in "Program Files (x86)"

If someone has the answer it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Scott

New Post: problem installing AddOn Studio

Strangely, I just successfully installed AddOn Studio on my VM. The OS was 32-bit (as opposed to 64-bit), WoW was not installed, VS 2008 was not installed, and no updates from Windows Update. It was a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate. I cannot think of anything else that would conflict with the installer on my 64-bit OS.

New Post: problem installing AddOn Studio

I am also having a problem installing AddOn Studio. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate (6.1.7600) and I have .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1. I receive this error when the installer runs "WowAddonStudio.exe /setup": http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/893/addonstudioerror.png (Microsoft Visual Studio Shell Isolated Edition - Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall AddOn Studio for World of Warcraft.)

New Post: missing components during startup after compiling the code

I downloaded the 2.0 source code from, http://addonstudio.codeplex.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=22870.
Then I tried to install it, but the installer is not created because a file "wowbench.wxs" is missing in the WowAddonStudio.Setup project.

Any idea about the errors?

If I dismiss that warning, I receive another warning "Unable to read the project file 'WowAddonStudio.Setup.cUstomActions.csproj'. c:\...trunk\src\WowAddonStduio.SEtup.cUstomActions\WowAddonSTudio.Setup.CustomaCtions.csproj(81,11): The imported project 'c:\program files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WiX\v2.0\Wix.CA.targets' was not found. Confirm that the path in the <Import> declartion is correct, and that the file exists on disk'.

It would seem that I need to install WIX, as there is nothing on my machien at "c:\program files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WiX".

Last, thinking maybe I can ignore these problems, when I try to build the Shell\WowAddonStudio project, I receive the warning "Unable to copy file "..\References\AnkhSvnPackage\SharpPlink-Win32.svnExe" to ...". There was a References\AnkhSvnPackage directory downloaded when I got the source, but it does not have the specified file.

Is there an installer I need for WiX? I found a download with the "Wix.CA.targets" file, but copying that download to the expected path did not work (and I did not find a regular installer).

I have installed the Visual Studio 2008 SDK from the links in the build notes. I am using Visual Studio 2008 version 9.0.30729.1 SP, running on WindowsXP with the latest updates. The build notes I am using are at http://addonstudio.codeplex.com/Wiki/View.aspx?title=BuildNotes.

New Post: problem installing AddOn Studio

I too can't install Wowaddonstudio.
So what is the status of the development of this utility? I see the latest update was from February, is it still in development or has it been abandoned? I only ask because it seems to that many people ar having issues with even installing this piece of software without much reply from the author (I have been trying to get it to work every which way for the past three days). This seems to be an awesome program if it can be fixed.

What you need to remember here is that those people who work on this excellent package do it off their own backs and in their spare time. They are not always available everyday and you just need to be patient. There are times where posts are not answered for a few weeks by the authors but 9 times out of 10 someone will help from the community until the authors get that all important time to come back and help.

If you perhaps state what error or even more information on why you fail to install it then someone (or maybe me) can help more.

I only ask because it seems to that many people ar having issues with even installing this piece of software without much reply from the author (I have been trying to get it to work every which way for the past three days). This seems to be an awesome program if it can be fixed.

New Post: Crash when clicking on Toolbox

I installed the AddOn Studio successful, but when i open it and click on Toolbox it crashes!
