So I've been trying every available solution that I have been able to find for this problem. I am not a computer programer, I don't mess with my registry, I know little to nothing about programming at all. All I want to do is make pretty boxes for my WoW. I got this program and have been trying and trying and trying to get it to work but I keep getting an error message saying "WowPath must be defined. Use the Project Properties window to set it to the location where WoW is installed." After searching for a while I finally figured out that "Project Properties" simply means "Properties" and - after searching that box for a while - found absolutely no place to enter in "...the location where WoW is installed." So I Goggle/Bing'd my problem using the exact phrase in the error message and all I got was some forum suggesting that I "create a new registry key" so I tried that and messed up some setting in WoW that now it won't even work properly. So I did a full reinstall of WoW (which turned out to be another suggestion) and tried again. Still no display when I create a new project and the same error message. So I checked again hoping somewhere there was a solution that didn't read like radio static (i.e. made some sort of sense) and have yet to find an answer.

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate on a 64-bit operating system with .NET Framework 4.5 and the other "recommended downloads" from I have a decent system with a good processor and what not so I don't see why 1.) this software isn't working properly and 2.) why there's no easy to read fix for this simple problem.

Sorry for your trouble. This AddOn Studio 2.0 does not always work correctly with windows 7, and will not load pretty boxes or be able to locate the new versions of WoW. I would refrain from changing anything in your registry by hand. At the risk of "plugging" a solution for the lost souls... :), there is another similar program with the same base feature set based on .Net 4.0/4.5.

For the record, this was done as a service to the community, and for myself as I write AddOns too. Please email me for any further discussion on any topics not related to this users issue at or use the support site found on the page.

In visual studio, the main options are in the application menu under Tools > Options. In AddOn Studio. There is an options pane named AddOn Studio, where there is an option to set the base WoW install location. You can try that with your current install, then restart AddOn Studio.
