You can try a newer version at This solves most of these issues, if not all of them. :)

Solution for Windows 7, 64 bit users that cant install Visual Studio SDK 1.1 SP1. Install Visual Studio SDK 1.0 instead and it will work fine

x64, Windows 7, Visual Studio 2008 sp1. THIS ADDON DOES NOT INSTALL. No help available, and no documentation.

Awesome idea, this is how addon development should be done. The project has achieved "working" status before it was abandoned. Despite the bugs, I am still using it for [parts of] development. This stuff should be continued by Blizzard! Many thanks to the contributors. I hope you'll have time to continue it someday.

to quote another poster: "it would be good but i can't download it I've tried everything and read all the responses but i just keeps getting stuck on "configuring for world of warcraft" any suggestions?" I had this too. you MUST install this studio on the same drive as your warcraft install. For me i have wow on a different drive. Ensuring i installed the studio to that drive fixed the issue.

This program is the cats pajamas guys... ive had it for about 3 hours and i have a very simple working add on already, this program is wonderful i would give it 15 stars if i could... Good stuff, congrats on a great program, developers.

Very good program! Makes editing a UI a brease. Ignore wipout comment as the notes clearly said you had to have Visual Studio installed or have the isolated shell installed and thats what gets downloaded. I had Visual Studio 2008 already installed so it was moot for me:P

It installs fine watchout -- if you can't figure out to click the setup instead of the installer package then you don't have any business programming period.
by icuszda on Oct 20, 2009 at 5:22 AM
Installing: * Installs additional software ("Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Shell SP1", whatever this is) without asking * DOWNLOADS sofware without asking * "Cancel" doesn't work, still installs said software * Does not tell you where the component is installed (user-specified install location is empty) Sorry, that's a really bad display of programming, and I didn't even get to run the program.

Very good but, I cant make ace addons its not even an option when you make a new addon...

Great tool, does help make the design much easier. There are some challenges with complex UI layouts, but all around saves a lot of time/effort in drawing out the base UI. Looking forward to future releases!

Interface creation is generally hardcode typing over 10's of thousands of lines. So far, AddOn Studio, on a very basic level provides this very quickly. A good template to start from and easy to use. Installation is long, depending what support files you have or do not have.
