No frame.xml [design]

system 1: XP MCE Final
system 2: Windows 7 prof
.NET Framework 3.5 sp1
had no problem installing however when i tried to create a test project all it creates is the frame.xml. No designer is created. Checked settings and its set to open in visual designer. Found others having the same issue while looking for solution on web but no luck. So far im not impressed, in the time i spent trying to get this to work i could have hand coded my small project with notepad. I did not include the installation log because one was not generated. By the way i installed and uninstalled 1/2 dozen times on different systems and no luck with either.

Having the exact same issue. I have pretty much the same setup, windows 7 x64 .net 3.5 and there's just no way to get the frame design up. Also tried to go to design on an HTML page and the entire app crashes.

Same issue. Win7 x64. Tried VS2008 SDK 1.0 and 1.1 (couldn't install without one of those installed first).
Also have .NET 4.0, VS2008 SP1 and VS2010 installed on this box along with the Windows SDK.

windows 7 ultimate x64 VS2008 and 2010. SDK 1.1 and SP1 installed. Same issue as the rest. No design mode to be found and a slew of errors upon creation of a new project.

Windows XP Home ~ .NET Framework 4.0 ~ SP 1 ~ Same problem with the XML design view bugging. Only happened since the 3.3.5 patch, was fine until I installed the patch.

It doesn't work with WoW above patch 3.3.3.. What i have done, I have 2 WoW installations. One is fully patched, and the other i only patched up to 3.3.3..
I first open the one patched up to 3.3.3. wait a few seconds on the login screen then close it. Open Addon Studio 2 project and everything works fine. To build; while addon studio is running, I open the fully patched version and build. After fully closing Addon Studio 2 you need to open 3.3.3 or previous WoW version in order for Addon Studio 2 to work again. I am using Windows 7, 64 bit..

i get xml design working with this workaround:
  • searched in reg the key related with package error, as shown in output when xml-designer not worked (Somenthing like {266abc...etc} .its an example)
  • found some entries. One is a lot interesting:p. it s located in my registry in HK_USERS...\WosAddonStudio\package.
  • this key has a nice clear name: SkipLoading and have value (1). i changed to 0, relaunched addonstudio and now designer works.
    hope it can help
